                  Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick

Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick, author of 'The Pedagogical Techniques and Methods of Flutist William Montgomery', Edwin Mellen Press, is on the faculty at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, as the Director of Instrumental Music. In addition to her duties as the flute professor, she is the Director of Bands, Music Director/Conductor of the Westminster Symphony Orchestra and directs the college flute choir. She was the director/founder of the McDaniel Summer Music Camp, which concluded in 2018 after 33 years.

Degrees include a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Flute Performance/Pedagogy and Instrumental Conducting from the University of Maryland.

She is a three-time winner/participant of the National Flute Association’s Professional Flute Choir Competition and has led flute choir reading sessions at NFA conventions. Recently elected to the position of Vice President of the

Flute Society of Washington, D.C., she has been an active participant in the annual Mid Atlantic Flute Convention, conducting the Mid-Atlantic High School Flute Choir, leading flute choir reading sessions and serving as program chair. She is currently the coordinator of the Flute Choir Showcase, held during the annual convention.

Dr. Kirkpatrick is the music director/conductor for Flute Cocktail, the official flute choir of the Columbia Bands, Inc., located in Howard County, MD, and The Lower Realm, a low-voiced flute ensemble. She has numerous published flute choir arrangements with and ALRY Publications/United Music and Media Publishers.

Professional affiliations include membership in Women Band Directors International, Maryland Music Educators Association, Maryland Band Directors Association, National Flute Association and the Flute Society of Washington. She has served as an adjudicator for county and state band festivals, county and solo/ensemble festivals and all-state band auditions in Maryland. She has been a member of the Lyric Band of Hanover since 2015.
